Synopsis Shimazu Toyohisa, whilst involved at the Battle of Sekigahara, manages to mortally wound Ii Naomasa, but is critically wounded in the process. As he walks from the field broken and bleeding, Toyohisa finds himself transported to a corridor of doors, where a bespectacled man at a desk waits for him. This man, Murasaki, sends Toyohisa into the nearest door where he wakes up in another world. There, Toyohisa meets other great warriors like him who have been transported as well, to be part of a group known as 'Drifters.'
(Source: Wikipedia). Overall 8 Story 9 Art 6 Character 9 Enjoyment 8 One for the guys that like the whole history or war and the art of war kinda thing. Think back through all the alternate universe/ timeline plots you've read and you'll probably realize they all have one thing in common.it definitely has something to do with the modern world.
Indeed, whether it is a ninja arriving in modern time or some kid who went to the demon world, there's always a link to our daily life so we can relate to it better. Drifter throws that out the window Without spoiling or going in too deep, Drifters is about a bunch of warriors from all culture who are sent to a magical world (with your usual magical races) after their death.or sent to the world right before they died.shurgs. So essentially you have a heap of warriors and a massive piece of land.the only logical step is for them to make a name for themselves, right? A collaboration with not relation to the modern world is pretty exciting idea and rather enjoyable. There are two points of interest in drifters. First is the characters, which are mostly war heroes such as Nobunaga and.spoiler. from France.

If you are well researched with your history of war you will probably understand most of the references and happily read away. Fortunately they didn't go overboard so even if you don't get it tis ok. Second point is the art of war. Here we are talking about war tactics, where generals make elaborate plans to destroy their enemies without losing too much on their side.
Though the manga hasn't really lifted off it showed enough 'art' to impress so great things can be expected form this manga later on quick word about art. Pretty good but the characters can be drawn really poorly at times (during the cool, badass faces =.=) Overall this is definitely one for the history freaks and even if you're not, this manga shouldn't feel too alienating so have a go XD. Overall 7 Story 6 Art 9 Character 6 Enjoyment 7 So this is the manga that Kouta Hirano is working on now that Hellsing is over. Okay, so right there, you should realize some things it will have: Blood, Violence.and, well, more violence. Although this manga is incredibly weird, it's a fix for hellsing fans now that hellsing is over. Personally, I like it. Kouta Hirano's signature art style is as weird as usual, and there is a serious dose of dark humor.
There are not that many chapters as yet, so it's hard for me to really say anything about the story. Clearly it is going somewhere, but at the moment I'm not really sure where. All I can really say is that if you've ever wondered 'What would happen if Julius Caesar fought a battle against Oda Nobunaga, and his troops were the night elves from world of warcraft?' Then drifters just might be for you!
Overall 10 Story 10 Art 9 Character 10 Enjoyment 10 Drifters manga, first time I read this manga made me into fan quickly. I love the fact that war generals and famous bodies are in this manga and fighting off each other! Even the fact that they are all great heroes. If I were to compare this Masterpiece of a Manga to a game, This would be totally a DOTA or Defence of the Ancient type. But due to our lazy Author Kouta Hirana, Readers and Soon-to-be readers will have to achingly wait for chapters to be out in raws more so being translated but LUCKILY, a new scan group started releasing newer chapters already!!
This made me happy!!!!! So, In my own opinion, THIS MANGA IS A MUST READ and if you're fan of HELLSING, then this manga's art and character drawings are mostly similar to each other. STORY is 100% satisfying! If you like History, REAL Generals, war and strategy and blood and gore (not too much but plenty LOL) Then this manga is for YOU!! Overall 9 Story 8 Art 9 Character 8 Enjoyment 9 Historical characters clash in a new world that has been over run by humans. The author shows the chaos and insanity of the characters with a unique art style. The art is very well done with thick lines and dark backgrounds that match the atmosphere of a time of war and darkness.

The main character is very likable and very similar to Natsu in the sense of OP and personality, unless you include the way he wants to kill people for their heads. The story is somewhat predictable but in a lot of ways unexpected. One thing that bothered me in the series was the random inclusion of historical figures that really did not make much sense in the way they acted. In real life, the character would be a legend in a good sense but is evil in the other world, to me it did not make much sense. That is the only criticism that I have for the series. The other characters that show up are very well done and much is implied so some of the story is shrouded in mystery. The author does a good job leaving room for speculation between the relationship of characters and their own history.
Overall the Manga is well done and I hope many people would read it. If you like OP characters, unique art, and a dark story line, then drifters is for you.
